Lynetta, if you liked what Randy did in double Vision, you might equally like Transgression, you can get a free download of the book on his site, since it's out of print.

And I'm doing what Cara's doing, with all the tips Brandilyn has given us. I'm rewriting to make sure the voices are distinct.

There are so many things to remember, that I've printed out each of the POV discussion days and have added them to my foulder of things to chech for in the ms.

Thanks Brandilyn for letting us pick your brain.Bonnie S. I noticed what an incredible job he does of choosing words and thoughts that fit four extremely different characters.

For example, Dillon never uses a contraction. He almost can't. In fact, his first POV scene I thought, "this guy is masquarading as a human and no one suspects anything!" That is, until I read he has a mild form of autism. How can I be so involved with this character when I have no idea what he's saying half the time? (I have taken several paragraphs to my hubby, a computer programmer, to decode them, just so I can get the general gist.

I think I've discovered why I can't put Randy's books down. His characters are all so well developed that I forget they only exist in the pages of a book. It is possible to write in close third POV and have every character sound exactly the same (my wip is a prime example). Randy, through the use of word selection and a thorough examination of each character, makes them all sound so different that I can almost audibly hear each of them talking.

My goal one day is to be able to create characters like that. I'm getting closer, I think, as I read Getting Into Character.Lynettahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12424933935528963708noreply@blogger.com
