Zowie, It's My Birthday!

I'm 51 today. So help me celebrate. Write me a limerick, a mixed metaphor, a crazy line of some kind. Come on, be creative!

This week's CFBA Blour: The Trophy Wives Club by Kristin Billerbeck

TTWC is about the gut-wrenching throes of grief, self-doubt, love/hatred and the desire for revenge. Why all these emotions at once? The main character, Haley, has been cast off by her husband for a younger wife. Her reactions aren't pretty, but they're quite understandable.

Still, you can't live the rest of your life drowning in the negativity. There comes a time to move on, quit blaming, start taking hold of your own life. That's what Haley needs to learn. And there's a God who is oh, so willing to help, if she'll only let Him.

There once was a woman named Brandilyn
Of whom everyone was a big fan-dilyn
    But her name doesn't ryme
Which gives me a hard time
    Sending a birthday wish ... without a mandolin (?)

A good attempt at 8:00 on a Friday morning. Happy Birthday!

There once was a woman of note
Whose fans read all that she wrote.
    She's wise and witty
    And still remains pretty.
    Fifty-one? Must be a misquote!

    Happy Birthday!

Another year of ... wisdom, tears, suspense, intrigue, LOL joy, additions, subtractions, backwards, forwards, and ongoing.

    Life. Happy Birthday with yours.

  4. Happy birthday to you,
    Happy birthday to you,
    Happy birthday, dear Brandilyn,
    Happy birthday to you!

I could NEVER beat the three already submitted, so I won't try. But I DO wish you a wonderful day. My dh's bday was Saturday. We celebrated in San Juan at our daughter's home.

Thanks for your hard work on this blog. It means a lot to us.

  7. There once was a writer named Brandilyn,
Who killed off people as her livin'.

But "Happy Birthday" we'll still sing,
    Giving her lots of bling

And a sign for her hot tub: "No Swimmin'!"

Happy Birthday, Brandilyn! I hope it's a great one.

  9. She's a writer of mayhem and death,
whose readers are holding their breath.
But with fifty one candles to blow,
She needs them all to go
To her home by the lake
    To help eat the cake
    In Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

  10. Some will say that 45 is simply not enough.
46 through 48 are years that can be tough.
49 is just a rock on an endless path through time.
50 is a scary one. But while you're on the climb.
51 is fascinating, regardless of your goals.
It's an age that's worth it, and fairly free of trolls.

I'm all out of limericks this year. My apologies. But Happy Birthday anyway. Enjoy!

  12. Brandilyn, my husband refuses to allow me to write limericks(he says it's for the good of mankind), so I'll sing our church's birthday song:

    A happy birthday to you!
    A happy birthday to you!
Every day of the year may you feel Jesus near!

    A happy birthday to you!
    A happy birthday to you!
And the best year you've ever had!

    (Was I on key?)

  14. Belated:
    Once Brandilyn decided to go
For an adventure out in the snow
    But the trip wasn't great
    Her ankle did break
For a while she was moving slo-mo

Happy birthday. Thanks for all you do with your blog.

  15. A belated birthday to you,
May you be blessed in all that you do,
May you see God's hand and favor
As all of His life for you you savor
    Happy birthday to you.

Hope you had a wonderful day!

  17. Brandilyn's now 51
And her writing here's hardly done.
    Readers wither in fear,
But we know she's a dear,
    Heightening ACFW's fun. : )

Wishing you many more blessed birthdays--and fun ACFW conferences!

    Hugs~

  18. Brandilyn is a thriller reader's best friend.
She'll scare you to the end.
Unless you're a chicken who can't make it past page ten.
Then you'll have to read her blog then.

Happy belated b-day!!! Here's looking at you kid. ;)
