This is the first novel I've written under deadline - the first two I finished before I sold them. It is scary. I'm hoping I get it finished in time. (Well, it will be finished. What I should say is, I'm hoping I get it finished to my satisfaction, in time.)

Glad to know there are other authors out there who have the same experiences.Lynnette Bonnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14256307943304175911noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10583449.post-89665526317282253962010-08-30T10:37:28.050-07:002010-08-30T10:37:28.050-07:00I get terrified. Even though I know that I can fix anything in edits, I still get that terror that this story is going to be just awful. :)Ralenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07890775905785233298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10583449.post-76341888135302249312010-08-30T09:23:08.296-07:002010-08-30T09:23:08.296-07:00I'm with you, Brandilyn. This might have something to do with the fact that I usually start writing the first draft with just enough time to get it done before deadline. So when people talk about "the last 30 days before the deadline" I'm thinking, "Um, that's not the home-stretch, that's pretty much the entire time it takes to write the stinking book."Randy Ingermansonhttp://www.AdvancedFictionWriting.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10583449.post-7302759340032533962010-08-30T07:19:07.749-07:002010-08-30T07:19:07.749-07:00Sometimes surprising. The characters show off or insert their independence or quickly tie up the story in a way I didn't see coming. It's a good thing but sometimes an unknown. When it's known, it usually comes in a hurry.

And I love it. And I hate it. And I know it's good, and I know it stinks. Such a life.Nicolehttp://hopeofglory.typepad.comnoreply@blogger.com
