Why Brandilyn's AWOL

Gayle here. You know the only time I pop in is when Brandilyn cannot—which is practically never.

Here’s the scoop. While snow mobiling with her family yesterday afternoon here in Paradise (North Idaho)—a first for her—Brandilyn flipped her snow mobile and wound up with a severely broken ankle, not to mention excruciating pain. Thankfully no head or back injury!

She’s awaiting surgery later today here at a local hospital and will spend the night, tentatively returning home tomorrow. I spoke with her briefly this morning. She was quite sedated due to the pain but not surprisingly, maintained her truly “Brandilyn” sense of humor. Since she can’t kick any cabinets for awhile, she says, her writing better go well! Unfortunately, her running shoes won’t be seeing any action for some time.

I know she appreciates your prayers and would welcome all your cheery and humorous comments for when she returns on line. Meanwhile, I’ll keep you posted as to her progress. But you just know, when she returns, you’ll hear the real story—not just the facts as I tell them here—but with all the embellishment and scope of the consummate novelist she is!

Blessings,
Gayle DeSalles, Brandilyn’s assistant

Wow Brandilyn - so sorry to hear about this accident! Now we know there's always a silver lining, so I'm sure the experience has given your fertile imagination seeds for future fiction...

"The young woman naively agreed to the scenic snowmobile ride, not anticipating the dangers awaiting her."

We'll be praying! Blessings.

Praying for your quick recovery.

And awaiting stories of giant snowmen attacking innocent snowmobilers...

...did someone hear a blood-curdling scream?

I think GG followed you and the crazed gorilla is getting even since you revealed his hideout on your blog. I wonder if he's going to hit Kanner Lake next?

I'm praying for your complete healing and rapid run-covery.

Blessings,

Brandilyn (when you're sober enough to read and retain this)--Like all the others, I'm praying for a quick release from pain and a full recovery. I'm sort of an expert, once removed, on fractured ankles--first my wife, then my daughter. I trust you'll receive wonderful care and will make a full recovery.
In the meanwhile, keeping in mind Charlie Brown's sage advice that "pain hurts," I'll pass along my daughter's comments after her ankle fracture: "Morphine good. Morphine very good."

Uh-oh. All I'm thinking is---sabotage.

Seriously, I'm so sorry to hear about this unfortunate "turn" of events, Brandilyn. Get well soon. :)

Brandilyn, I will be praying for you. I am no stranger to serious fractures. I wish I had as adventuresome an excuse! Morphine is good as was stated above!

I was gonna ask how you go about kicking cabinets w/o breaking your toes...

Hm, maybe the cabinets had something to do with it.

Brandilyn, sorry to hear about your ankle. I hope you're home recuperating and pain-free quickly.

BC, may the Lord cause His face to shine upon you, and if He chooses once again to miraculously heal you, we'll be shouting "Hallelujah!" with you. May He be close to you every "step" of the way, and may His peace reign in your heart. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Brandilyn, so sorry to hear of your accident and broken ankle. It must have been that gorilla that followed you up to Idaho and jumped out in front of your snowmobile. You'll have to find some way to get him back next time he's out on that front porch!

Hope your healed up very quickly!

It seems there has been a horrible trend this week of authors getting hurt. I mentioned your accident to my husband and he said I'd better watch out.

"No worries," I told him. "You have to be a SUCCESSFUL author."

Really, I'll pray for you. DH broke his ankle when our youngest was a few weeks old, so I spent the next month taking care of two darling babies.

Oh, Brandilyn! Ouch! But bully for you for riding a snowmobile. I've always wanted to, but I'm too chicken. I guarantee, after this, I'm STILL too chicken! I'll be keeping you in my prayers that you'll be up to cabinet-kicking again soon. Love ya!

Owww!! Maybe after this you will need to take up using one of those punching bags instead of the cabinets. Boxing mitts? Well, seriously, you're in my prayers for a speedy, speedy recovery. I'm thankful God kept His hand on you!

Yikes. Last year one of our partners broke his back snowmobiling -- now you! I think I'll swear off the things before I every climb on one. Praying that your recovery will be speedy and complete. And that the writing will flow since you won't be kicking or running for awhile!

Oh, this is just awful. I KNEW something was up--since she didn't blog. Please convey that I'll be praying for her, that she'll heal quickly and feel better soon. We look forward to her getting back to us.

Prayers for a speedy recovery, that you come back better than ever. Anticipating the laughter when you tell us what happened in your own inimitable way.

Ooh, Brandilyn, I'm so sorry. Praying for your quick recovery so you can get back to kicking cabinets.

I used to love snowmobiling, but they are skittish critters. Haven't been on one in 30 years - guess I'll stick to that record.

Hugs,
