Right Brain/Left Brain test

This was sent around on an email loop yesterday. Do you see the dancer turning clockwise or counter-clockwise? If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of your brain. If counter-clockwise, you use more of the left side.

http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,22492511-5005375,00.html

I was amazed at the folks who said they saw the woman turning counter-clockwise. Are they crazy? She's obviously turning clockwise. I cannot see it any other way no matter how hard I try. So supposedly I'm a right-brainer. Weird thing is, all the personality traits for left brain are the ones that fit me best. I'm an ISTJ on Myers-Briggs, for heaven's sake.

I must have one mixed up brain.

Too much fun!

I found I could change directions at will.

How sick am I?

Too funny that you see one way and the traits are opposite. I saw counter clockwise and the traits suited me perfectly. There was no way I could get her turning the other way no matter how hard I focused.

Each time I glanced away and returned my gaze, she would switch directions.

I double majored in math and literature. Apparently the sides of my brain get equal time!

She's turning both ways! At first I thought I was seeing things, and then I stared and stared, analyzing. First, she's turning clockwise. Then, all of a sudden, she's turning counterclockwise. Ack! I'm right AND left brained.

Whew. Just read the rest of the comments. Others are seeing what I'm seeing, too. I'm safe. GRIN.

Brandilyn,
Of course she's turning counter-clockwise. Never any doubt--or change in direction. The fact that you see her otherwise explains a lot about your plot twists. Repent. Seek help. There are medications, counselors. Maybe it's the effect of all the anesthetics.

Thanks for posting this. I look forward to testing all my friends and colleagues with it.

I was staring at her turning counter-clockwise and then she switched.

I suppose now I'll be like Curm and make her do my will. ;)

Nope. She's turning clockwise. No doubt about it. And she refuses to change directions. Stubborn woman.

Totally clockwise. Wow. I couldn't get her to change either.

Clockwise. Totally, utterly. Can't see the counter-clockwise even when refreshing the page. :)

Clockwise, baby, all the way. (Is she nekked?!)

LOL, Nicole. Had the same thought!

I was able to control which way she went by what i thought...?? I wonder what that means?? LOL

She goes both ways for me. Which is great because I have strong traits from BOTH lists! Woohoo for using all your brain power!!

Brandilyn, I've long thought writers are both-brainers. ;-) I score as a left-brain dominant in most things, but always borderline. On this little "test" I saw only the dancer spinning clockwise. Even when I started at the picture trying to analyze how others might view it revolving in the opposite direction! LOL

I'm happy to report that I just clicked over and after doing an unintentional stop action, I saw how it could be viewed in reverse, then when I put her in motion, sure enough, she was counter clockwise.

But here are some other "tests" to try. Without notice, tell your vict ... uh, subject ... to stand up and turn around. Which way do they go--counter or clockwise? Also, when you fold your hands, which thumb is on top, right or left. When you fold your arms, which arm is on top? When you cross your legs, which leg is on top? Interesting little tests. ;-)

I couldn't change it at will, but did see her moving both clockwise and counter-clockwise.

Hubby seemed upset that he couldn't see both and ended up reading more about the "test." Turns out it's not scientific at all, just an optical illusion in the sense that our brains fill in the missing frames in the image.

I still believe that I'm a bit left and a bit right, though that's based on the descriptions of the two as well as previous tests.

Here's an odd one for you--when I looked at her, she was definately going clockwise, no matter what I did.

Curious about the difference between left- and right-brained, I started reading the lists on the side, and in my peripheral vision, she suddenly starts going counter-clockwise!

Surprised, I focus on her again. No, she's going clockwise and again, nothing I try changes it. So I go back to reading...and voila! She's back spinning counter-clockwise.

After a couple tests, sure enough I can make her spin counter-clockwise...but only if use my peripheral vision. The minute I focus on her, she's back to clockwise and nothing I can do can change it.

I hate to know what that says about me. LOL!

Well, I couldn't get her to do anything but clockwise. Like Brandilyn, I'm have more left brain characteristics than right, though on the Meirs-Briggs I'm an IFTJ. So weird! I definitely have some right brain stuff. LOL

Oh my, how cool. Definitely clockwise. I couldn't get her to turn any other way, no matter how hard I stared, blinked or fussed at her.

Okay, after I posted, I went back and read the other posts and did what chawna s did. When I looked at her from my peripheral vision, she started going counter clockwise! Once I got her going in that direction, I could look at her full on and she kept going, but in order to get her to clockwise, I had to look away again, then back. Weird, huh?

Okay, I was feeling oddball-ish since I checked it out before reading the comments. She turned counterclockwise for me and I am so definitely right brained, it's indisputable. Then after reading the comments, I went back. If I looked at her feet and made myself track in the opposite direction, I could change her spin back and forth. That must be the right brained creativity coming out, huh? :-)

I looked and first saw her go clockwise, then looked again... and she was going counter-clockwise... then it was clockwise again. I thought I was nuts at first, and maybe I am, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one... :-)
