Victory!

Yesterday marked six months since my snowmobiling accident. And guess what I did in the morning? Jogged three miles!

Okay, so I wogged. And even walked part of the way. But I was out there, basically jogging. Give me a little time, I might be up to five miles a day again soon.

I tried jogging a few weeks ago in Coeur d'Alene, just going one-third of a mile to start. Didn't work too well. Hurt my foot, and after three days of working up to one mile, I nixed the idea for the present and went back to the illiptical machine. The broken bone isn't the problem. That's long healed. It's all the ligament damage I did. Those suckers take a long time to heal. Yesterday I thought I'd try just a little distance again, but my shoes felt good and nothing hurt, so I went for it. Apparently, it is all in the shoes. My pair in California are much newer than the ones in Cd'A. Better support.

To top the day off--I see G.G. Yup, our favorite lifesize Gray Gorrilla was sitting on his front porch, as fine as he could be. He sported a bright green top and pants and wore one of those orange life vests over his wide shoulders. No doubt he was enjoying a little skiing over the holiday weekend.

And--while I'm chatting on in this personal post--daughter Amberly is now ensconced in college. Man, those rooms are tiny. I walked in and gulped. A girl who's used to occupying four bedrooms is now reduced to one-half a little-bitty room area. But she didn't blink an eye. She was far too excited. The space is hers, see. All hers.

Except Mom and Dad are paying for it.

In work news (since this is supposed to be about the fiction world)--I started a new book yesterday. A stand-alone adult suspense. Due December 15.

Yikes Better go write!

Don't know how you do it, Brandilyn. Four months to write a book? My hat's off to you!

Brandilyn,
You made me break a commandment. I think it says in 2 Havoline 2:17, "Thou shalt not envy another writer's ability when thine own is so suspect." A novel in three months. Sheesh.

But I'm happy that you're getting your mobility back.

Now go kill somebody...but without excessive violence.

Hey Brandilyn,
You go girl with the running 3 miles!!! I know you'll be up to 6 miles again shortly.
Wow! a book in 3.5 months! I'll be praying for you and of course I'll be looking forward to reading your new book! Gayle emailed me recently to check if I wanted to be an influencer of/for Crimson Eve - I said "yes of course"!!! I love your books and can't wait to read CE and tell everyone about it!!! I've been watching the mail for it! lol
Are you back in CA? We definitely have to get together some weekend soon!!! Let me know when works best for you. Also, I was wondering if you would be interested in sharing your testimony with my PWOC group some Tuesday morning???? PWOC is Protestant Women of the Chapel. It is a Bible study time offered at the chapel on every military base. We meet every Tuesday morning for several hours and we try to get speakers in before we split up into our individual Bible Studies. We have some openings that we are trying to fill in late October. It would be such a blessing to all of us to hear your testimony.

Hugs,
Eden

PS. I'm looking forward to hearing more about GG!!!

You meant December 15 of 2007, right? How was that decided? Wa it part of a deal long ago? Who decided it would be a stand-alone rather than the start (or part) of a series?

JD: Yes, 12/15/07.

This book is part of the four-book contract for my adult novels. When the contract is being negotiated, all deadlines are figured out then. It's basically when I say I can have the books done. (I had to insert three young adult books in another contract with Zondervan in between these adult novel deadlines, so the timing is tricky.)

Also at the time of the contract, I and my agent and editor decided it was time to do some stand-alone novels. To this point all my novels have been in series. This book due 12/15 is book #2 in the four-book contract. Amber Morn, final of the Kanner Lake series, was book #1 of that contract.

I'm so happy you're able to jog again. And to see G.G. the first day out! Other than his side trip to go water skiing, I'll bet he's been sitting there waiting for you.

College kids never notice that stuff, Ms. B, you know that! LOL

Hey, I fianlly picked up a sparkly nail polish. My beauty supply didn't have the diamond dust you got. So I'm still green with envy - but at least I'm colorful. ;)

See you in Dallas.

That's great that you can jog again...LOL...me...I wouldn't be so excited...LOL!

Wow...a book due that soon. I bow to your prowess with words!

How many words does the manuscript have to be?

~ Brandilyn Collins said...

I don't worry about word count. I think in terms of pages. My manuscripts run about 330-340 pages, translating to an equal number of printed pages in the final book.

Yay for being able to get back to jogging. You must have really missed it going without it for so long.

The gorilla is back. Wonder where he vacationed all summer.

Hi Bradilynn! I haven't been around lately. So happy for you and your wogging. God is good. Excited to hear about the beginning of a new novel as well.
